The THL W7 was unveiled just before New Year, but at that time we had no idea how much the 5.7-inch phablet would cost. However now we can unveil the price and some additional specification details.
The THL W7 is basically THL’s version of the Zopo Leader Max Phablet, and as such receives the same dual-core MT6577 CPU, 1GB RAM, improved 8 mega-pixel camera (when compared to the Zopo ZP900) and large 5.7-inch 1280 x 720 display.
Gizchina News of the week
Overall it’s a pretty nice package (if it were’t for the pathetic 2300mAh battery), but we were still left guessing as to what the official price might be.
However, we can now reveal that THL will soon start accepting pre-orders for the THL W7 and prices have been set at an affordable 1699 Yuan ($272), but the best is yet to come as further rumours suggest a quad-core MT6589 version will go on sale later in the year!
Personally, at 5.7-inches I’m not all that interested in the W7, however if I were I would likely be tempted to hold off until the updated model is announced.
What would you do?

There is a bunch of phones out there with the same specs for around $200:
5,7”, 1280×720, MTK6577, 3200mAh battery (some say 2300mAh)
I wish this was just a little bit smaller. 5.7” is simply a little too much.
The size isn’t an issue, it’s the processor. I’m not considering any of the MT6577 phones anymore. In fact I know it’s not reasonable, but even though I haven’t seen it in real life yet, I’m a bit biased towards phones with Sony Exmor RS cameras also…
But unlike you guys, i want a zero bezel 6+ inch device.
Putting it into Starbucks terms, there are only two sizes now in Grande and Venti. The days of Tall and Short are behind us now. I’m obviously a Venti man…
The 5″ Sharp SH930U has the new 5″ IGZO screen, but the phone feels too small to be considered Grande. I think that 5.7″ or 6.1″ or even 6.5″ with a 1 or 2mm bezel is in the Venti range.
