Realme Seperates From OPPO: Another OnePlus?

Realme

On the morning of July 30, former Vice President of OPPO, Li Bingzhong posted a message on his Weibo channel and officially announced that he would take over the phone brand Realme. Previously, we learned about OPPO’s establishment of sub-brand Realme in India. Unlike traditional offline strategies, Realme sells primarily online. At the same time as the brand was released, Realme also announced a partnership with India’s Amazon. The Realme’s first phone, Realme 1, has been officially launched on May 15.

According to some sources, Realme has achieved certain results in India. After the first two months of its launch, the sales volume reached 400,000 units. According to Counterpoint, Realme has already accounted for 1% of the Indian market in the second quarter of this year. As for now, seems Realme is independent of the OPPO system.

Moreover, Tencent Technology has reported that on June 1 this year, Shenzhen Ruierhao Mobile Communication Co., Ltd. was formally established. The legal representative is Li Bingzhong with a registered capital of RMB 50 million ($7.32 million). This company is also considered a corporate entity of the Realme brand.

The establishment of Realme is easy to reminiscent of another phone brand that is also born out of OPPO. In 2013, Liu Zuohu, who was the general manager of OPPO Blu-ray Business Unit, announced his entrepreneurship and officially founded OnePlus. Under his leadership, the focus on the international market has become an important force in the domestic phone brand. In 2017, the sales of OnePlus have reached about 10 billion yuan ($1.46 billion).

OnePlus can be seen as an example of Realme. It is conceivable that Realme will also maintain its own healthy operation and the main selling point of the brand itself.
