We had seen the leaks, spy photos and read the rumoured specifications well before today, but finally the ZTE Grand S has been officially launched at CES.
As we already knew, the Grand S measures in at just 6.9mm which makes it the world’s thinnest 5-inch 1080 phone, this alone would be sure to grab our attention but ZTE have given the Grand S a fantastic specifications to boot!
Gizchina News of the week
Behind the 5-inch 1920 x 1080 screen lies a quad-core Qualcomm S4 CPU running a 1.7Ghz with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage plus a micro SD card slot. They have even managed to squeeze LTE support in to the Grand S despite it’s super thin unibody, however we have yet to learn which bands will be supported.
As with similar 5-inch phones the S gets a 13 mega-pixel rear camera and 2 mega-pixel front, both of support of 1080p video capture!
Overall the ZTE Grand S looks like a killer phone, but if we had to grumble about anything it would be the tiny, non replacable 1780mAh battery, let’s just hope ZTE have optimised Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to make the most of it!

I really do wonder how 1780mAh would cope.
Me too, I would have been happier with a thicker body and larger battery.
In a mad rat-race for thin bodies, ZTE has compromised on the battery size. Not a very smart move.
Like Andi, I’d rather have a 9-10 mm thick body and get a 2500 mAh battery !

Hi, I have heard the body material depends on the colors. Some colars are with a ceramic body other are with plastic. Do you know something more?
From a german source: Battery is 2300mAh (confirmed by ZTE). What do you think?
