The successor to the F7, the Oppo F9 is now official in Philippines, Taiwan. It is expected to launch in other South Asian markets soon. The Oppo F9 had been making headlines for a few weeks now. It’s launch in India as the F9 Pro is scheduled for August 21.
Oppo F9 Design
The F9 features a full-screen display with a notch which is derivative of the Essential PH-1’s design. Oppo is calling this the “water-drop design”. The phone has thin bezels on the sides, a notch specifically for the front camera and a thin chin. The volume rockers lie on the left side while the power button sits on the right. The back houses the fingerprint scanner and the dual camera setup. The Oppo F9 is available in three colour variants, Starry Purple, Twilight Blue, and Sunrise Red. All three variants have a gradient, diamond-like patterns on the back.

Oppo F9 Specifications
The F9 features a 6.3-inch LTPS IPS LCD display with a Full HD+ (2340 x 1080) resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The design on the front offers a 90.8% screen-to-body ratio. The phone houses a MediaTek Helio P60 chipset clocked at 2.0GHz coupled with 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage(expandable via microSD). The front camera is a 25MP f/2.0 sensor and there are 16MP f/1.85 and 2MP f/1.85 sensors on the back. The camera software is tuned to allow for recognition of up to 16 scenes. The USP of this phone, other than its notch, is the 3500mAh battery with support for VOOC fast charging. Oppo claims that the fast charging tech gives 2 hours of battery life over a 5-minute charge. It comes with Android 8.1 Oreo with ColorOS 5.2 on top.
As far as the connectivity options go, the F9 will support dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It is priced at $340 in Vietnam for the 4GB variant. The pre-orders have already begun.
