While most of us were waiting to see the really interesting Xiaomi Pocophone flagship-killer get officially launched on August 22nd. Online news website Android Authority apparently found a way to get their hands on the device before that day, unveiling pretty much all the specs and features of the first ever handset coming from Xiaomi’s sub-brand – Pocophone.
The smartphone doesn’t seem to bring anything new we didn’t already knew from previous leaks though. Nonetheless, we now have them confirmed by Android Authority.
The Pocophone F1 comes with a metal and plastic build featuring a large 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2246 (Full HD+) and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is powered by a flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD).
Photography wise, we find a 12MP+5MP dual camera combo on the back, which is similar to the setup on the Mi 8 SE, as is the 20MP selfie snapper at the front.
For the joy of many, the F1 has also been confirmed to pack a large 4000mAh battery, which should give this device some of the best battery life compared to other flagship phones. In addition to that, there’s a handy 3.5mm audio jack for those who were missing it from the Mi 8.
Other specs include an infrared sensor for Face Unlocking, USB Type-C, Bluetooth 5.0 LE and 4G LTE connectivity on bands: 1/3/7/8/20/38/40. The handset runs MIUI 9.8 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

Sadly the camera seems to perform quite badly considering its price point.
From what I get reading the early reviews it looks like the Poco f1 is kinda a Redmi 5 pro with a SD845 soc.
If the camera is like the redmi note 5 pro it’s a win in my opinion
It’s not a win considering its price point. I mean we are talking about a 450USD device.
Sensor wise no but performance wise yes anything greater is just marginal increase, the stabilization on the 5pro is great, daylight pictures are amazing the 5pro was poor man n low light if it were improved here it would mean much since low light photos aren’t really taken all that much, the processor is what bumps up the price
I like the big battery, 3,5mm jack, USB type C, expandable storage and Snap 845, but plastic back ? And that lower bezell too, this is some nasty cost cuting. No AMOLED either. This has to make it cost less than Mi 8 for sure, if its going to be avaible around 350$, that would make it justifiable. Still excited tho haha.

Yup, this phone’s gonna be something just like Honor Play…
I have been saying this everywhere: This phone is just gonna do what Lenovo Z2 plus and Mi3 etc used to do; provide a great SOC and some special good features while cutting on design and aesthetics.
I am actually happy since I wouldn’t have bought Mi8 as I am in no mood of upgrading from OP5t but I can buy this phone as a replacement to Moto X4 and also as a memento to SD845 chip;
I guess that QC must have reduced the licensing fee for SD845 as this is gonna be the last phone with that chipset which is gonna sold in bulks..
The plastic back seems great, no? These glass backed phones are slippy and fragile. Its nice to have a simple durable and grip-able material that is less likely to need a cover. Less flashy too.
