Its been a couple of days since Nokia started teasing a new phone launch with a vague tagline – “most awaited phone“. The tagline screams something mysterious and out of the world, but you would be so disappointed to know the “most awaited phone” been teased by Nokia isn’t anything near the flagship Nokia 9, but might be the Nokia 6.1 plus.
Ahead of its August 21 date for the unveiling of its “most awaited phone“, Nokia mobile India has joined in teasing the so-called “most awaited phone“. The Indian arm of Nokia via its Twitter page has released a couple of pictures purportedly taken with the “most awaited phone“.
While no reference was made to the phone used for the shots, Nokiapoweruser has it on good ground that the photos provide first looks of Lakme Fashion week and were taken with the Nokia 6.1 plus rear camera, so it is believed Nokia most awaited smartphone could be the Nokia 6.1 plus and not the flagship Nokia 9. This even makes a lot of sense, given that the Nokia 9 would arrive as a flagship phone, and a more global event like the upcoming IFA conference could make for a wider launch.

The Nokia 6.1 plus India debut has been a long time coming. Indications are that the device which was first spotted on the official Indian website with its user guide and India SAR details will launch in the country as a Flipkart exclusive. HMD Global launched the Nokia X6 in China earlier in May and has since been launched in several other countries including Taiwan and Hong Kong under the Nokia 6.1 Moniker.
Well, I hope is not only for Indian market, but a global launch. Because I’m in love with this phone, I’ve been researching a lot and many people want this phone. Unfortunately, the X6 available in chinese stores has a weird ROM named Totoro, with no OTA updates. So, for me and for many others, yes, the 6.1 plus global is the most awaited phone!
It’s most likely going to launch globally as an Android One phone so you can expect OTA updates 🙂
