Following weeks of teasers, rumors, leaks, and certifications, we finally have a formal announcement from Oppo. The Oppo F9 Pro has been announced atĀ the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai, India earlier today. However, the F9 Pro isn’t alone, it is accompanied by a more cheaper variant dubbed the Oppo F9. Both devices are essentially the same, but the F9 pro packs more RAM, a better front facing camera and supports theĀ VOOC Flash charge, even though they both have the same 3500mAh battery.
Much like the Oppo F7, the Oppo F9 pro main focus is on selfies and an alluring design. Speaking of the design, the Oppo F9 pro adopts the still trending notch display, but with a difference. The device flaunts a 6.3-inch display with a 90.8% STB ratio, a 19.5:9 Aspect Ratio and a āWaterdropā notch design much like the one on the essential phone.Ā On the flip side, Oppo claims it has given the device aĀ whole gradient designĀ using Gradient Spraying Technology to create a fusion of different colors and offer gradient color matching options to users. The rear is house to a dual camera setup, as well as a fingerprint print scanner.
Under theĀ 6.3-inch display, the Oppo F9 pro uses theĀ Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P60 12nm processor coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, while the base Oppo F9 gets 4GB/64GB RAM and storage combination. Both devices use triple card slots, powered by Android 8.1.0 with Oppo’s ColorOS 5.2 custom UI,Ā and are fueled by a 3500mAh battery, however,Ā Oppo’s ultra-fast VOOC Flash charging technology is available only to the F9 pro.
On the camera front, the F9 pro uses a 16MP (f/1.8) main sensor and a 2MP (f/2.4) unit for depth sensing, a 25MP lens with f/2.0 aperture for selfies, while the base Oppo F9 uses a similar rear camera setup, but with only aĀ 16-megapixel shooter for taking selfies.
Available inĀ Sunrise Red, Twilight Blue, and Starry Purple, the Oppo F9 Pro is exclusive to Flipkart and Amazon India. Pre-orders are on but will be available to buy both online and offline starting August 31 in India.
