DxOMark : Galaxy Note 9 is second after the Huawei P20 Pro

Samsung Galaxy Note9

Samsung’s new flagship, Galaxy Note 9, has been on the market for about a month. This smartphone came after the company was strongly criticized for its lack of innovation on the Galaxy S9 series. Well, the Note 9 didn’t get such criticism and even DxOMark seem to appreciate this smartphone. Samsung Galaxy Note 9 scored 103 points in total. For images, it racked up 107 points while its video segment claimed 94 points. This score places the device on joint second with HTC U12+ and only Huawei P20 Pro is ahead of them with 109 points. The P20 Pro has been delisted from 3DMark Performance ranking for cheating. Who knows if the P20 Pro also found a way to trick DXOMark.

In the photo test, the Galaxy Note 9 showed fast and accurate autofocus capability, and in most cases the dynamic range is wide. It retains a good detail with up to 4x zoom and the details preservation and noise reduction achieved a good balance. The color is pleasant and bright, and the bokeh is very convincing.

Of course, there are occasions when the camera dont perform up to par. Loss of clarity, poor details in dark environments and inconsistent white balance are some of the issues but these rarely happen. DxOMark said in the test summary that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 dual camera is one of the best performing mobile phone in the world. It provides excellent image quality under all lighting conditions in most cases. Compared to the S9 Plus, the Note 9 has improved a lot of features including autofocus consistency, tracking reliability, effective image stabilization, zoom and realistic bokeh simulation modes.
