Following the iPhone battery scandal that affected iPhones with aging batteries, Apple has lowered the replacement price of the iPhone battery to $29 instead of $89 until December 31, 2018 (valid for iPhone 6 and later models).
The company yesterday indicates what will happen from 1 January 2019 and updated its battery page with the new rates, so out-of-warranty battery swaps will cost:
- iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, X: $69
- iPhone 8, 8 Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, 6, 6 Plus, SE: $49
- All other eligible models: $79
People with iPhones under warranty or covered by AppleCare+ wonât have to pay anything for battery replacements.

It is worth to mention that Apple has officially announced The Apple Watch Series 4 on its event yesterday alongside with three iPhone models iPhone Xs (5.8-inch), iPhone Xs Max (6.5-inch) and iPhone Xr (6.1-inch).
Apple has announced also the release date for its upcoming iOS 12 which will be available next Monday September 17th.
