A few days ago, Apple held a new product launch conference and announced the new generation of iPhones. But the truth is this company has launched the world’s first 7nm processor, namely Apple A12 Bionic. Actually, this is a very powerful mobile platform that outruns the Snapdragon 845 developed by Qualcomm. At least, the latest comparison chart proves this. It also shows the most powerful smartphone is the Apple iPhone XS Max. What’s more interesting, the OnePlus smartphones have been always known for their good optimization. Like the Huawei Kirin 980 SoC, the Apple A12 Bionic chip is built in partnership with TSMC and is made using the 7nm manufacturing process. Shortly, this is the first commercially available chip based on the 7nm process node.

It uses a hexa-core CPU, which has two ‘performance’ cores and four ‘efficiency’ cores. The company claims the 2 performance cores are about 15% faster and 40% more power efficient than those on the Bionic A11. The four cores consume 50% less battery power than its predecessor.
Moreover, Apple has also upgraded the Neural Engine from the 2 cores on the A11 to the eight cores, specially meant for monitoring machine learning processes. These processors amongst other things help quickly authenticate users with Face ID and tracking facial movements for Animojis. The new engine can effectively perform up to 5 trillion operations per second, a significant increase over the A11 600 billion operations per second.
