Google rolls out the redesigned WearOS 2.1

Back in August Google announced the total overhaul of its smartwatch operating system, the WearOS. Today the company is finally rolling out the redesigned and improved WearOS to eligible Smartwatches.

If you’re wondering which device will support the newly improved operating system, we have to say that the list is huge. Any smartwatch launched with Android Wear 2.0, and those that got upgraded to the 2.0 version will be eligible for WearOS 2.1 update. The list of devices that won’t be getting the update is composed by LG G Watch, Samsung Gear Live,  Moto 360 (1st generation), Sony Smartwatch 3 and the Asus ZenWatch.

WearOS introduces a new way to navigate through the Smartwatch. With a swipe to the top, a user can access the quick settings, with a swipe from the bottom the device will display notifications. A swipe to the left will start Google Fit, while a swipe to the right calls Google Assistant. Google Assistant menu will also display the information of Google Discover, former Google Feed.

Currently, it’s unclear when the update will reach all the eligible smartwatches, but considering the amount and Google’s usual antics, it may take several days. So, while the update is available, users will need to be patient.
