A couple days back we reported that Huawei’s flagship of 2017 – the Mate 10 Pro – was already receiving the latest Android 9.0 Pie based OS, albeit with some limitations. Well, today appears to be the day of its younger cousin, the Huawei P20 Pro launched in March of this year.
Do not celebrate yet though, the news only reports that the new ROM is currently on Huawei’s Hicloud servers, which doesn’t necessarily mean it’s rolling out today or in the following days. This only suggests that EMUI 9.0 is ready to be released very soon, at least in Europe, with rumors suggesting it might hit some devices starting on October 16th.
Gizchina News of the week
Just like on the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, the updated ROM is supposed to massively improve the overall performance of the device under the Android 9.0 Pie operating system. In EMUI 9.0, we will have a new full-screen gesture graphic for multitasking between applications, meanwhile the company’s so called “scary technology” – GPU Turbo – will be available in a new 2.0 version, which should bring a better gaming experience for the more hardcore users.
With EMUI 9.0 Huawei also increased system security, created a new UI design and redesigned the volume slider, plus we’ll see a better battery life thanks to the clever AI optimization which is set to reduce drains and increase its lifespan.
