One thing is common among virtually all flagship and even mid-range phones today – a completely borderless screen that stretches from edge to edge. The trend is expected to slip into the coming year, however, with this trend, one would wonder how and what OEMs plans to implement the front-facing camera and other related sensors which have been embedded in the chin and butt of smartphones.
With the current trend, and in order to ensure all screen devices, smartphones maker are left with either the water-drop notch or the pop-out module as it is currently rumoured for the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. While it appears Samsung might not be adopting any of the two options, a recent report suggests the Korean giant might be exploring a completely different and relatively new technology.
Gizchina News of the week
According to a report that just emanated out of Korea, the company is currently trying out a prototype smartphone with no bezels around the display, no notch, and no camera sliding mechanism whatsoever, but with behind-the-screen selfie cameras. This new tech is reportedly in the very early stages of development, and given that the Galaxy S10 is currently rumoured to get the in-display fingerprint sensor, it’s likely the new camera tech might not see the light of the day until later in 2020 when the Korean firm is expected to unveil the Galaxy S11.
Note that the tech hasn’t been finalised, as it is presently under trial, so its possible it might not even see the light of the day, so try not to get your hopes up just yet.
