Vivo Y93 launched: The first smartphone to use the Snapdragon 439 chip


Last week, we wrote that the first smartphone with a Snapdragon 439 processor and the name Vivo Y93 will be presented on November 15th. But the manufacturer was ahead of the event and released this unit today.

What’s inside

Vivo Y93 has a widescreen 6.2” LCD with a resolution of HD+ (1520 × 720 pixels) and 19:9 ratio with a water drop-shaped notch, a fresh 8-core Snapdragon 439 processor with Adreno 505 graphics, 4 gigabytes of RAM and 64 GB of ROM. If this is not enough, the official website is keeping mum on microSD availability.

The phone is equipped with a dual rear camera sensors at 13MP 2MP. There is an autofocus and portrait mode. Selfie camera equipped with a module of 8MP with face detection and improved image processing.

The Vivo Y93 has a built-in voice assistant Jovi as a part of the new Android 8.1 Oreo OS with the native interface FunTouch OS.

Battery capacity at 4030mAh but comes with a micro USB port, connectivity includes dual SIM slot, Bluetooth 5, and Wi-Fi ac at 364 Mbps. The chipset limits the LTE speeds to 150/75 Mbps.

When and how much to wait

Vivo Y93 is already available for purchase on China in the colors of Starry Black or Sunset Red. The phone costs CNY1500, which is about $215/€190. The release date on the international market is still unknown.
