Xiaomi now available in 82 markets outside China


Today, the maiden edition of the Chinese International Import Expo held in Shanghai. During the trade and investment parallel forum, Lei Jun talked about his company, Xiaomi. Talking about Xiaomi’s quest to go global, he said that cross-border trade can benefit more local consumers, which is a good thing for investors and consumers.

Lei Jun stated that Xiaomi was founded in 2010 and began to globalize in 2014. After Xiaomi’s efforts for so many years, the rewards he received were obvious. As of the second quarter of 2018, Xiaomi’s international business grew by 150% and entered 82 foreign markets; among them, it became the top five in the 25 markets. In this regard, Lei Jun said, “We can say that we are still a young multinational company.”

Apart from the original blueprint of Xiaomi, Lei Jun has his own ideas. Lei Jun said: “The idea of Xiaomi is to bring high-quality products to local consumers with good prices, and we will also train local teams in the local area. For example, 95% of our products in Indonesia are locally manufactured, and even in India and Indonesia, we have invested in dozens of startups to improve the development of the mobile Internet industry.”
