To make a higher screen ratio, the manufacturers are ready to sell their souls to Devil. They have already come in with various approaches. Among them, we can mention the regular full-screen, the three-borderless design, the notch screen, the drop screen, the lifting camera structure, the two-track predatory structure, and finally, the sliding screen method. Currently, there are only three smartphones with such technology. As you should know, they are the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3, Honor Magic 2, and Lenovo Z5 Pro. Actually, they belong to the same category, but they are quite different. It’s difficult to give a preference to any of them. We can make conclusions only looking at their sales numbers. As for the Magic 2, it was announced on October 31 and went on sale on November 6. It is the most expensive model among the three. But this fact didn’t prevent the Magic 2 to sell out in all major stores.

For those who follow what’s happening in the smartphone world, this result shouldn’t be surprising. The Honor Magic 2 comes with the best hardware, including the latest Kirin 980 chip, which is the first in the world to use a 7nm process node and five other aspects. Say, it’s the first SoC to adopt the ARM Cortex-A76 architecture; it the first to commercially use the ARM Mali-G76 GPU; the Kirin 980 upgraded the fourth-generation self-developed ISP and equipped with dual ISP for the first time; this is the first integration of dual NPU units; the Kirin 980 is the first to support LTE Cat.21; it uses the world’s fastest mobile Wi-Fi wireless chip Hi1103, which is the first to support 160M bandwidth; and the Kirin 980 is also the first to support LPDDR4X-2133 high-frequency memory.
Apart from this, the Honor Magic 2 comes with a sliding structure. As almost all the sensors are removed from the front panel. The company invented so-called Magic Slide technology and put all the sensors on the sliding part. The phone uses a unique mechanical structure called the ‘butterfly five-track sliding screen structure’. Among the moved sensors, we should mention a 2MP infrared image sensor, a dot matrix projector, a 16MP front-mounted main camera, and another 2MP infrared lens. These sensors form the 3D biosensing system of the Honor Magic 2, which can be used to unlock the phone, make mobile payments, and more.
On the back, it carries another triple-camera using the 24MP black and white lens (F1.8) + 16MP color lens (F1.8) + 16MP wide angle (F2.2) combination. The rest of the features include a 6.39-inch AMOLED display, which has a 2340 x 1080 resolution and a screen ratio of 91.5%, 6/8GB RAM, 128/256/512GB storage, 3500mAh battery supporting 40W fast-charge technology, new Magic UI 2.0 based on Android 9.0, and YOYO AI assistant with an IQ of 4556.
