The Huawei Mate 20 Pro has an inverted wireless charging system to charge other Qi-compatible devices. But it looks that in practice it will be difficult to use this feature with other smartphones. The charging is very slow according to a test.
Huawei’s latest flagship has many strengths about autonomy. Big battery of 4200mAh, wired and wireless fast charge alongside with reverse wireless charging. The manufacturer has highlighted this feature during the presentation of the smartphone. It was said that the smartphone is even able to charge an iPhone with a battery capacity lower than the Huawei flagship.
Android Authority team made a test evaluating the reverse charging using the pixel 3 smartphone and comparing the charging speed with a 15W wired charger via USB-C and 10W Pixel Stand wireless charger. The results are not really brilliant.
Gizchina News of the week
When the Pixel 3 is put in contact with the Mate 20 Pro it is a very different story since it is about a power close to 2,5W. Our colleagues expected to have a power of at least 5W, which is far from being the case (594 mAh against 1985 mAh for the Pixel Stand).
Android Authority states, ” It’s slower than standard wireless charging. Although this feature sounds really neat, it probably isn’t going to be much help to phones on their last legs. Reverse wireless charging is just too slow to be useful for day-to-day charging, though it may still come in handy for those truly desperate situations when every last bit of juice helps”.
