OPPO Malaysia recently launched their latest smartphone, the OPPO R17 Pro, into the Malaysian market ahead of countries like India. It was more of a teaser than an actual launch, though the device goes on sale quite soon.

The Oppo R17 features a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 6.4-inch FHD+ (2340×1080) display with a waterdrop notch design. The device has a 91.5% screen-to-body ratio and it is the first phone in the world to use Corning Gorilla Glass 6. We’ve also got an in-display fingerprint sensor and a mid-range octa-core Snapdragon 710 processor. Paired with that we’ve got 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

Oppo is really proud of the camera on the R17 Pro and rightly so, the device packs a three-axis OIS optical image stabiliser. The first is a 12MP unit with variable f/1.5-f/2.4 aperture, the second being a 20MP f/2.6 secondary shooter and the third a 3D depth sensing camera. It’s one of the first devices in the world with this setup, as well as the first triple lens smartphone with a variable aperture lens.

The Oppo R17 Pro is powered by a 3,700mAh battery that charges via USB-C with Oppo’s very own SuperVOOC fast charging technology. SuperVOOC is capable of charging the device from 0-40% in just 10 minutes. Out of the box, the Oppo R17 Pro runs Android 8.1 Oreo with Oppo’s own ColorOS 5.2 skin. Of course, there’s no headphone jack here.

The OPPO R17 Pro is officially priced at RM2,699 ($643) in Malaysia and comes in options of Radiant Mist and Emerald Green. First sales will take place on the 1st of December, and the device will be purchasable from an Oppo store, Lazada, Shopee and 11street.
