At present, almost all smartphone manufacturers around the world choose DxOMark as the main platform for the camera performance review. As of December 4, 2018, Huawei P20 Pro is still considered to be the leader in the best smartphone camera list. What’s more amazing it’s been there for up to 8 months, and no one can shake its position. However, today, DxOMark suddenly made an announcement, saying that it will add beauty, wide-angle, and night scene tests to future smartphone camera reviews.
In the announcement, they claimed that the DxOMark camera evaluation platform has been established for 10 years. They listened to the opinions of fans and added the background blur and zoom to the smartphone evaluation project in 2017.

It’s assumed these changes in the evaluation rules will give a lot of confidence to the Chinese smartphones as they have been traditionally very strong in the mentioned aspects. Therefore, the list will include too many phones coming our way from Chinese smartphone makers.
At present, the top 15 smartphones at this platform are: Huawei P20 Pro, iPhone XS Max, HTC U12+, Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Xiaomi Mi MIX 3, Huawei P20, Samsung Galaxy S9+, Xiaomi Mi 8, Google Pixel 2, iPhone X, Huawei Mate 10 Pro, Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, OnePlus 6, iPhone 8 Plus, and Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
Gizchina News of the week
The original statement:
Dear Readers,
DxOMark posted its first DxOMark Sensor review in November 2008. We are delighted to announce that our dxomark.com website has now been online for 10 years.
We have come a long way since then! We introduced DxOMark Lens and DxOMark Mobile in 2010 and 2012, respectively. In keeping with changing technology, in 2017 we updated our DxOMark Mobile protocol with bokeh and zoom evaluation. In all, we have published over 10,000 reviews, based on millions of data points and using the same scientific protocol and rigorous methodology to evaluate each device within a given category.
To meet an increasing demand for reviews and to accommodate our growing team of image quality engineers, we moved to a bigger facility a couple of months ago. While the move admittedly delayed some of our lens and sensor reviews, we will be making up for it in the coming months, including reviews of recently-launched mirrorless cameras.
Given the continuous flow of new photography features in smartphones (beautification, night mode, wide angle, etc.), we will continue incorporating new consumer experiences into our testing protocol.
And as always, all content will be available for free to visitors world-wide on dxomark.com!
We thank you all for your trust and support.
Best regards,
The DxOMark Editorial Team
