There has been a long-standing legal battle between Qualcomm and Apple which is becoming disturbing for both companies. These legal cases were filed in multiple countries and the outcome will come out in trickles. Qualcomm issued a statement on Monday that a court in Fuzhou, China, has ruled that Apple is prohibited from importing and selling a variety of models including the iPhone X in China. The lawsuit was initiated by Qualcomm at the end of 2017.
It is reported that the ban was decided by the Fuzhou Intermediate People’s Court. The ruling found that Apple infringed Qualcomm’s software patents, mainly involving adjusting the size of photos on the touch screen and managing applications.

The iPhone models affected by the ban include the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X sold with the older iOS system. Qualcomm’s general counsel Don Rosenberg said in a statement: “Apple continues to benefit from our intellectual property rights, but at the same time refuses to compensate us.”
Some analysts said that because of software infringement, Apple can make adjustments to its software to ensure that the affected iPhones can continue to be sold in the future. Apple responded by saying that Qualcomm’s attempt to ban our products is another desperate act of the company. It’s an illegal behavior which is being investigated by global regulators. At present, Chinese consumers can still buy all models of the iPhone. Apple has questioned the scope of the ban. Currently, the iPhone is sold with the iOS 12 operating system, and Apple has not violated related patents.
