As you probably know, Samsung is one of the biggest TV manufacturer in the world, which means a large number of buyers will be affected by their decisions; in this case, it’s a really positive one. The South Korean tech giant is indeed going to equip their future TVs for 2019 with Google’s assistant.
This change is apparently coming very soon and it’ll be showed off at the CES 2019, probably the place with the most eyes from people in the tech world.
Gizchina News of the week
Samsung’s move isn’t that innovative though, other manufacturers such as LG and TCL have already integrated the Assistant from Google. Samsung themselves already had an assistant as well, but it’s the much hated – probably unfairly – Bixby assistant. Its TV-specialized sibling isn’t open to third party software, which means the actions it can perform are quite limited. On the other side, Google Assistant’s more open environment allows it to connect to wireless speakers, use other apps and whatnot.
Finally, Samsung will also improve sound quality on their TVs all thanks to AI. We expect to find a similar tech to the Apple HomePod, meaning it will optimize the sound tones according to the surrounding environment. This feature will be implemented on high-end TVs, which is an odd move as those are usually paired with a good Hi-Fi audio system.
