Huawei responds to recently-uncovered issue of deleting images, says its a bug

Recently, it came to light that a good number of those using some Huawei phones were complaining about the phone auto-deleting their saved images. Users, mostly from China via Reddit said their units of Huawei and Honor phones were randomly deleting images downloaded through the application of Twitter.

Huawei in a swift reaction has waded into the matter following a brief investigation. The Chinese firm in a statement released hours ago did acknowledge users complain but did say the images in the actual sense were not actually deleted. The firm said it was just a glitch in a new update causing the notification to appear read the full statement below:

“Huawei has recently received user reports that allege the Twitter app automatically deletes images on Huawei devices.

“Having investigated the issue, Huawei has discovered that whenever users of certain devices download an image using specific builds of the Twitter app (version 7.78.0 and 7.77.0), the app will automatically create a folder of the same name as the image and promptly delete it in the background.

“This action triggers Huawei’s built-in image protection alert, causing the system to notify the user of the deletion. However, the images are not affected. Users may find their images at the following location: File Manager/picture/Twitter.

The firm further adds that it is in touch with Twitter to find a way out of the mess since it most likely a case of incompatibility. So fret not if your device is affected, you can always find your images on File Manager/picture/Twitter.
