Google Maps now allows users to set departure or arrival times

Google Maps

Google Maps has seen quite a few interface changes recently and some of the most recent ones such as speed trap cameras and speed limits are especially interesting, although they are not yet available in all regions.

Now the company has added a much-anticipated improvement in the Google Maps mobile app for Android. Finally, it is possible to set your departure or arrival time and get an estimation of how long your route will take, via the route options menu.

The option to indicate departure and arrival times has been available for some time in Google Maps for desktop but on the mobile this function was limited to public transport.

Luckily, the latest version of the Android app adds an option called “Define time of departure and arrival”. You can indicate any date and time to obtain an estimate of what will take your travel and when you will arrive (if you have set the time of exit) or when you should leave (if you have established the arrival time).

At the moment, it does not seem that it is possible to add a reminder or a notification, so you will not receive any notice when you should get going. It also does not seem possible that the system continues to monitor the state of traffic.
