Visionox to supply Xiaomi’s dual foldable smartphone OLED display

Last week, Xiaomi co-founder and President, Lin Bin, showcased Xiaomi’s dual foldable smartphone for the first time. Lin Bin revealed that the Xiaomi dual foldable smartphone phone has overcome a series of technical problems such as flexibility of the folding screen, four-wheel folding shaft, flexible cover technology, and MIUI adaptation. Lin Bin said that if everyone likes it, the company will consider taking it into mass production in the future. Xiaomi said that this device uses an OLED display panel from Chinese panel maker, Visionox.

Gizchina News of the week

Visionox has been researching OLED panel technology for a long time and has repeatedly shown folding screens. In 2018, Visionox AMOLED panels ranked third in terms of global shipments and the largest smartphone AMOLED panel supplier in mainland China. At present, Visionox is accelerating its AMOLED panel production line.

In addition, Samsung, Huawei, OPPO, vivo, LG and other brands are also developing foldable mobile phones. Although Apple has a patent for foldable phones, the company will not launch this smartphone in 2019. It claims that there is still a lot of work to be done on the device.
