Xiaomi Mi 9 Transparent Edition comes with a special camera and larger aperture!

The Mi 9 was launched recently and was covered excessively. The camera has received amazing reviews overall. The Mi 9 transparent camera has a secret! It has a different camera from that of its siblings. Lets look at how its different or better than the normal edition.

To recap the Mi 9 transparent edition comes with 12GB of RAM , 256GB of storage a black build. The back boasts a transparent look with decorative panels on the inside to make it look techy. This edition was inspired by Alita Battle angle. Unless you watched through the entire presentation, you would have thought the increased memory and  look was the only difference. In the middle of the presentation it was shown that the camera was indeed different.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 transparent camera comes with a special 7P + f/1.47 combination. 7P means that it will have seven optical lenses! Most smartphone cameras these days only have 5P or 6P. With the camera module being less than a centimeter in depth , fitting 7 lenses seems daunting. The main sensor , stabilization mechanism and more also needs to be fit inside.

The f/1.47 aperture is probably the largest in the industry. The S10 comes close with its dual aperture technology that gives it either f/1.5 or f/2.4. The larger the aperture , the more light that a camera sensor can receive. kind of funny ironic isint it that the dark edition captures the most light? 😉

When the full reviews are out we can see if this ultra large aperture translates to better low light photos. This edition even though fancy and filled to the brim with specs costs a respectable 2999 Yuan / 450$ . The international launch of the Mi  9 will happen soo in MWC 2019. Lets hope the launch the transparent edition internationally as well.
