These newly launched pair of Sony earphones cost as much as this years flagship Samsung Fold device! Lets take a look at what one can expect from a 2000$ pair of earphones.
To begin with , These Sony earphones are almost completely Hand made and assembled. As known with any high quality hand-made product , price does not come cheap. But that is not the only reason. These earphones are made from a Zirconium alloy. Zirconium alloys are known to be extremely corrosion resistant and are even used in nuclear reactors for this particular property. Corrosion is probably the biggest known enemy to high end music devices and Sony went all out here.
On the sound side of things , Sony is using triple drivers. A 0.47″ magnesium dome dynamic driver , a 0.2″ super tweeter and a balanced armature driver. Sony claims to have balanced the sound so well that it sounds like the sound is coming from one harmonious driver unit.

The earphones boast up to 100KHz frequency response while most ordinary earphones reach a maximum of 20KHz. The bass is said to be deep but yet maintains very fine details. The balanced armature made with silver coated wires and connected with gold contacts are said to be able to reproduce even the smallest fading notes. The impedance is 40 Ohm and sensitivity is 103 dB/mW.
To keep the overall weight low Sony opted an internal magnesium frame to hold the components. All the copper wires are coated will silver to keep oxygen out of them and prevent corrosion. The wire is then finally braided with silk to reduce rubbing noises. The wire is moulded to the shape of the ear for a comfortable fit.
Finally for the price you get a carrying case , 13 pairs of earplugs , a pair of balanced connection cable , a pair of standard connection cable and a clip.
Also you get a cleaning cloth. Normally you would just ball up your phones and push it into your pocket , but any person who buys this probably cleans it with the cloth before placing it carefully into a box and probably locking it in a safe before going to sleep 😛
