It’s fair to say that the Nokia licensee HMD Global is the most committed companies when it comes to pushing out OS and monthly security updates. Just over a month ago, Juho Sarvikas, HMDs Chief Product Officer released the company’s Android Pie update roadmap for Android devices under its portfolio.
As it stands, the company is more than keeping up to that roadmap as it is already rolling out the latest flavor to a number of its devices, and now, reports filtering in says the company’s latest and greatest smartphone – the Nokia 9 PureView is receiving its first ever update, one that will be waiting for your unit of the device right off the box, given that ts about now just going on sale.

The company Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, first broke the news of the update via Twitter and has since been confirmed by the guys at XDA developers who perhaps are in possession of a unit of the Nokia 9 PureView. According to both sources, the update weighs in at about 300MB and brings the March Android Security Patch as well as a series of camera enhancements, system stability improvements and user interface enhancements to the phone.
In addition to the February security update, the update actually brings the Face Unlock feature to the Nokia 9, making it the first Nokia phone under HMD Global to get the feature. XDA developers note that Setting up the facial recognition feature is the same as adding a fingerprint, but it can’t be used for things like mobile payments. The update is available via OTA, so we advise you keep an eye out for the software update once you get the device in your hands.
