VIVO readying the Y3 and Y5 to take on Samsung’s A and new M series

According to Counterpoint report, Samsung lost a good part of the Indian market share to Xiaomi who overtook the Korean giant in Q4 2017 and held as much as a five-point lead as of Q3 2018. The Korean giant seems resolute to reclaiming its lost shares with the recent launch of the Galaxy M and event the A series specifically designed to thwart Xiaomi’s ascent in India.

While Samsungs efforts have yet to start yielding, continuous pressure from Xiaomi and other smaller Chinese brands seems to be intensifying. While sub-brands from these Chinese brands are springing up, a new report from India suggests the Chinese phone maker VIVO will in the coming days release some devices that will be aimed directly at Samsung’s new M and A series.

While the M and the A series of Samsung phones are at launch exclusive to India,  91mobiles reports that Samsung will be announcing the Vivo Y3 and Vivo Y5 smartphones in India soon. Although the report gives no clue as to what to expect from the new upcoming devices, it did note that both devices could get a triple rear camera setup in addition to some other capable specs. What is more, the report also has it that both devices will be aggressively priced in India, with the Y3 going for as much as Rs. 10,000 (~$145) and Rs. 15,000 (~$215, while the Vivo Y5 could cost between Rs. 15,000 (~$215) and Rs. 20,000 (~$286) while also carrying some more capable.
