Pete Lau from OnePlus says that smartphones with colorful designs do not sell well

Many manufacturers have chosen to offer their smartphones in very bold color variants. Without going any further, the recently announced Huawei P30 / P30 Pro are available in several gradients of color, which are more striking. The CEO of OnePlus, Pete Lau, is not convinced that it is a good idea to launch smartphones with these colorful variants because, in his words, they do not sell well in the market.

Lau says that the colorful designs attract attention and they are very good in press conferences but, in reality, these models do not sell well. Lau believes that people are not enthusiastic about color choices and, therefore, the company is reluctant to offer more variants despite the pressure from its internal marketing department.

This means that the OnePlus 7 will not arrive in daring color gradients but will repeat a uniform color design.
