After custom “Lei Jun” cases, Xiaomi unveils RUOK (Are You OK) cases for Mi 9

RUOK

Ok, someone really needs to question Xiaomi’s creative team for the design of Mi 9 cases. After unveiling the “Lei Jun” custom cases earlier on this month to celebrate the 1.5 million of Mi 9 sold, the company’s CEO revealed a new set of cases with the RUOK (read as Are You Ok) branding. So if you’re a Mi 9 owner, and can’t choose between the myriad of custom cases that are available for your smartphone, the RUOK is a new case that has an “own” philosophy that is surely different from anything you’ve seen before, I’m sure.

The RUOK case has a two-color design and is available in five different color variants that are similar to the Lei Jun case released earlier on this month. The case which is made from a lightweight PC material is inspired by the CEO’s famous words said at a product launch in India back in 2015. Lei Jun, whose English speaking skills were less than average at then, had told the audience that they would get the Mi Band for free. In a bid to gauge their enthusiasm, the company’s CEO asked several times: “Are You OK?”

That part of the launch surely became a meme on Chinese social media overnight, and of course, is screaming in all those who were attending at the referred event back in the days. Now four years after these words were said, Xiaomi’s is a giant in India, and in order to remember and celebrate Mi 9 success the company is offering a case with Lei Jun’s infamous speech.

The Mi 9 RUOK case is priced at 49 Yuan (~$7) on the official Mi Online Store and will be available for purchase today, April 30. Worth noting that the listing shows only the Purple version is available for purchase, but the other color variants may arrive in the coming days.
