More Kai Q8 5-inch, 1080, quad-core for $209 UMi X2 alternative?

The Kai Q8 is yet another HTC Butterfly clone, but unlike the others this knock-off packs a serous punch thanks to the 1080HD display and quad-core CPU and rather low price!

More details of the Kai Q8 have been unveiled over the weekend along with another leaked image of the 5-inch HD phone.

Apparently engineers at Kai have not been deterred by the obvious problems some manufacturers are having with getting the Mediatek MT6589 running more RAM and have opted for a 2GB RAM set up in the new Kai Q8.

Gizchina News of the week

With this amount of RAM on board plus the rest of the hardware, the Q8 looks to us as a very attractive and lower priced UMi X2 alternative!

5-inch FHD 1080p display, quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM, 13 mega-pixel rear camera, Android 4.2, 3000mAh and body thickness of just 8.8mm are all very impressive features for any Chinese smartphone, but to see them all on a device which will cost just 1299 Yuan ($209) is spectacular.

In comparison the Premium version of the iOcean X7 will offer a similar spec at a similar price, but seems to have been forgotten by the company, and the UMi X2 with near identical hardware will cost more at 1499 Yuan ($241).

We’ll be keeping a close eye on the Kai Q8’s development.

The first clone of this HTC was the Star S5 and X920 which are sold on Aliexpress starting from $210. I don’t think this Kai Q8 to be sold at least for the same $210 on Aliexpress and I expect to be something like $300.
More clones of the HTC Butterfly will reach the market and because of the typical chinese price war, the prices will go down. Even for the Star S5 when more competition will arrive.
The UMI S1 is just a late and expensive clone. They should release it before Star.
And don’t forget: all these HTC clones are made in the same factory, but with different components, depending of the request.

Will it have gorilla glass though? If not, definitely a deal breaker for me.

need a little help guys. i was going to choose between iocean x7 and HDC Butterfly X920. but now i see some other phones with good specs coming out in the same price range. i want a phone that is under $300, has good camera, 1920×1080 pixel , 5″ or 4.7″ screen, quad core good performance (nice antutu scores), very good battery(3000mAh may be) and good software. the butterfly seems to have to best design and software, but the iocean x7 has 1080p screen. help me choose guys. thanks!
