The OnePlus 7 Pro is definitely a jewel in terms of hardware, but when it comes to the software, the device also delivers an outstanding experience. After all, among Android interface, OxygenOS is one of the best offerings in the market. Despite its close-to-stock Android nature, the firmware comes fueled by a ton of customizations and interesting features. With the arrival of OP7 Pro, the Chinese firm introduced two new interesting features – Zen Mode and Screen Recorder.
Screen Recorder allows native recording of phone’s display without any software overlays. With it, it’s easy to record a gaming session or to perform a how-to video tutorial for your friends. Zen Mode on the other side, is OnePlus’ vision of tech-life balance – The feature totally blocks all smartphone usage and incoming notifications for 20 minutes. Once that a user starts Zen Mode, he can’t exit it until the end of the timer.
Since these two features are interesting, a lot of users from the older generation OnePlus devices started to sideload to their devices. However, it only resulted in a half baked experience. For instance, Screen Recorder wasn’t recording sound, and notifications were still coming even with Zen Mode enabled. OnePlus acknowledged that owners want these two OxygenOS-exclusive OnePlus 7 Pro features, and announced that they are coming for the OnePlus 5/5T/6/6T.
Gizchina News of the week
“We have received some feedback from users who have installed the Screen Recorder and Zen Mode on the OnePlus 5/5T/6/6T. The results turn out to be that when you are using Screen Recorder, there is no sound coming out when you play the game and listen to the music, or that there will still be notification reminders when you are in Zen Mode.”
That’s a good example of how the company managed to rebuild its software department after the lackluster support delivered to the older OnePlus 2 and X. Now, while the company introduces new features to make their new flagships more appealing, it also offers them to users that are betting on their long-term support.
“We plan to release Screen Recorder and Zen Mode in next week’s open beta build for OnePlus 6/6T. And the software team is also working on the adaptation of these two applications on the OnePlus 5/5T and the stable build.”
OnePlus will be adding both features into the next Oxygen OS Open Beta for the OnePlus 6/6T so if you’re interested to make sure to be enrolled in the company’s beta program for both handsets. They should arrive pretty soon since next betas with it are scheduled for the next week. When it comes to the OnePlus 5 and 5T, the update with the respective features should take more time. OnePlus will adapt and make them ready for the next stable builds.
