Xiaomi M2A Hands on photos

More hands on photos with the all new Xiaomi M2A, alongside the more costly Xiaomi M2S, but from what we know of the phone and the specs we would happily by the cheaper of the two.

Xiaomi, being Xiaomi, made the rather odd decision to launch a new low-cost Android smartphone, which not only has a larger display than their current flagship model, but even adds features that the more costly phone cannot physically have!

As the Xiaomi M2A is an all new phone, the engineers in Beijing have given it a larger 4.5-inch 720 display, they have also given the entry-level smartphone the same 8 mega-pixel camera as the flagship M2S (at least the same as the 16GB M2S the 32GB has a 13 mega-pixel camera), NFC, Dirac Audio and 5Ghz Wifi standard!

Even with all that and the more attractive and refined body on the M2A, Xiaomi are managing to sell the new phone at 500 Yuan ($80) less than the quad-core flagship phone!

The Xiaomi M2A is powered by a dual-core 1.7Ghz Snapdragon 600 CPU, 1GB RAM, and 8 mega-pixel camera. It uses the latest version of Xiaomi’s MIUI ROM, version 5 and will be on sale soon for 1499 Yuan ($242).

After my MI1 failed I’ve decided I’ve had enough of Chinese branded phones. I thought Xiaomi would be better than the rest. Quality is still not up to par with the big guns.

    • April 18, 2013

Sorry to hear that. I’ve not had an issue with my Mi2 since buying it, I’ll def get an Mi3 and thinking of getting an M2A also.

And for how long have you been using an Mi1? Try something newer for a change. It’s like sticking to a Galaxy S2 and then complaining when it breaks.

I think the border between the corner and the display should have been little thinner in M2A.
(May be its a general thing with 4.5 inch phones.
I have see this in Honor 2 too where the border i though should be thinner)

But i believe this phone will sell a lot because of NFC factor!!

      Dear Ma / Andi
Would you know of any seller personally who can get the phone during the release and ship international (to India)..
I want to get a hold of this unsuccessful phone 😉 at the same time i really hope its not an unsuccessful phone!!

Aliexpress has some sellers who are doing presale but they are charging around 305$ for a 240$ phone 🙁

Andy, i will be possible to buy the Mi2A in a physical store or only is possible online by internet?
And what about buy the phonefree, without a contract with China Telecom or another company, is it possible?
    Thanks in advance

I have actually started seeing the Mi2 in stores, but this might be due to it being fazed out. Unless something has changed (and I hope it has) The non-contract M2a will only be available online through Xiaomi (or pay a couple of extra RMB and get it on the grey market) Phone on China Telecom and Unicom will be available in store though.

No 🙁 This is the only drawback, though, at least for me, I think 16gb will be enough.
