Remember the Neo N003 aka the worlds cheapest 5-inch 1080 phone? We’ll here is the first ever hands on with a prototype version of the handset!
In a marketing point of view Neo are more sensible than their rival. They have kept quiet about the flagship N003, leaking only tasty morsels here and there, and haven’t made any outlandish claims or broken any release date promises, which makes the appearance of this Neo N003 hands on video all the more exciting!
In their forum posting, where this video was originally posted, Neo are quick to point out that the phone in the video is a preproduction device and the debugging is ongoing, which explains some apparent touch screen issues, a low 11,776 Antutu score and rather small application icons.
Despite the lagging performance now and then, the Neo N003 does look rather good. OTG is working and can be seen in the video with a wireless mouse demonstration, we also get to see how it handles playing 1080hd video and games to a flat screen TV!
Gizchina News of the week
As for the phone itself, the video doesn’t give us a very close look at the exterior but we do get to see that the body is rather thick and is comprised of a white plastic rear which wraps around the an all black face. On the inside we can see places for dual-sim cards, an SD card and the large 3000mAh battery.

The Neo N003 is a 5-inch 1080 phone with quad-core MT6589 CPU. Prices are said to start from 899 Yuan for the 1GB version, there will also me a 2GB RAM model. Each phone offers OTG, Yamaha audio, 13 mega-pixel rear camera and a 3000mAh battery.

Head over to the Gizchina Facebook page here to see sample photos taken with the 13 mega-pixel rear camera on the N003!
Looks a bit different than expected after having seen the concept renders and the leaked hands on pics. Maybe it’s just missing the metal band around side as this is a “preproduction device” – wonder if that will still get added.
awesome
This phone really looks good…. only time will tell
will it have N standart wifi?
Yes, every mtk6589 supports it.

For me the problems with the Cola 2 model is the aspect, i mean it look’s like an Samsung Galaxy SIII, and have a bigger price.
I prefer this one 😉 and i have pre-ordered it.
@Nahúm Pérez Mesa: Can you tell me where did you find to pre-order this phone!? I want it too! 😀 I want 2GB RAM version! 🙂
In the website store
Can you write me a link, pls? 🙂
Not necessarily depends the chip, depending on the model if they have “prepared” or not for these conetions
does it have corning gorilla glass
Yes is a 5 inch IPS OGS corning gorilla glass 2 protection FHD
That is rather impressive. Hopefully the retail version will look like the designs they earlier showed us. I am confused about OTG and MHL, shouldn’t that depend on the chipset? So all MT6589s should support OTG and MHL. Someone shed light on this for me please.
Yup! The chipset does support MHL! 🙂
Thanks for the reply Aditya. So, does this mean compatibility with MHL depend only on software on MT6589 phones?
Any price for the 1GB version?
Will this phone be available outside of China?
1GB version is about $145 in China when it goes on sale
