According to IDC data, shipments of wearable devices in the first quarter of this year shows growth for some companies. Although Apple still maintains its number one position, Xiaomi and Huawei have increased their catch-up momentum. According to statistics, Huawei’s shipments in this quarter increased by 282.2% year-on-year. In contrast, Apple’s year-on-year growth rate is only 49.5%.
At present, Huawei’s wearable devices global market share (10%) is still behind Apple’s 26% and Xiaomi’s 13%. In addition, Samsung has a 9% market share, with a year-on-year growth rate of 152%; Fitbit has a 6% market share, a year-on-year growth rate of 36%. In the first quarter, total shipments of wearable devices were about 50 million, of which 12.8 million came from Apple, 6.6 million came from Xiaomi, 5 million from Huawei, 4.3 million from Samsung, 2.9 million from Fitbit, and 18 million from other brands.

Since the United State government added Huawei Technology to its entity list, it has been one bad news or another for Huawei. A couple of companies and associations have withdrawn their association from Huawei as a result of the ban. The likes of AMD, ARM, Google, Intel, Qualcomm, etc. have suspended cooperation with Huawei. Associations like Wi-Fi Alliance, JEDEC (Solid State Technology Association), SDA (SD Association) and PCIe standard also canceled Huawei’s membership. Although, these associations recalled the company after a few days.
