A rotating module and three front cameras in the new patents of Oppo and Xiaomi

New patents officially registered by Xiaomi and Oppo give us an idea of ​​what we will be able to see in the near future in the new proposals of the two producers.

Let’s start with Xiaomi, whose patent shows us a smartphone with a fairly traditional design, with a fingerprint reader on the back and the main camera module featuring two sensors.

What instead would be a novelty are the three front cameras in the form of a classic notch at the top of the screen. The rest of the front does not show other surprises, with quite small lateral frames and a decidedly more inferior lower one. The patent then shows what the new Xiaomi wireless charger should be.

Oppo proposal, which has by now become accustomed to innovative design choices, is definitely more interesting. The patent, filed last October and approved on May 28th, shows a rotating mechanism for rear cameras, which are also used to take selfies.

The mechanism is similar to that seen on the recent Asus Zenfone 6, with a semicircular module containing two cameras and an LED flash. The smartphone in the patent also seems to have very small frames.

Which of the two solutions intrigues you the most?

It is worth to mention that the Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has announced the launch of a new mid-range smartphone dubbed the OPPO Reno Z. The announcement comes weeks after it launched the existing OPPO Reno trio. While the design of the back panel is similar to the other Reno-series featuring the OPPO logo, tagline, LED flash, and O-Dot ceramic point which protects the camera, the device, however, ditches the pop-up front-facing camera for a waterdrop notch which houses the 32MP selfie camera.

The OPPO Reno Z houses the 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 Mobile Platform coupled with Kryo 360 CPU and Adreno 616 GPU, and will hit the shelves  in 6GB of RAM and 128GB of non expandable storage. At the back, there is a twin camera setup which consists of a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor and a 5MP depth sensor, while the 32MP selfie camera is housed within the waterdrop notch on the front.
