Sony demonstrates the innovations of its smartphones over the years

Sony

Sony’s smartphone business is not going as well as the company would like but its commitment to this market is firm. Although it has no plans to leave this market because of the relevance it has for young people, Sony is withdrawing from certain areas.

Despite the results, Sony wants to remain relevant, and its latest effort to do so is this infographic that collects the various innovations, records and world premieres that can be attributed to Sony’s mobile division.

From the first 4K screen on a smartphone (the Xperia Z5 Premium), to the world’s first 4K OLED HDR panel on a smartphone (Xperia 1), everything appears in the infographic. Even the SmartWatch 3 receives a mention, although Sony has long stopped making smart watches.

It is good to know that Sony has not forgotten its past and we hope that its future, at least as far as mobile phones are concerned, will be even more successful.

Gizchina News of the week

It is worth to mention that although the Japanese electronics major Sony recently announced its exit from some markets only to focus on Japan, Europe, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, its mobile business is obviously not dead despite the low sales figure of the past financial year. In fact, reports from Japan suggest Sony is mulling jumping of the Foldable phone bandwagon, but that might not happen until 2020.

As reported by local media, Sony’s first foldable phone might launch as the Xperia F, with the “F” standing for foldable, and is expected to use Samsung’s flexible OLED display panel with 21:9 aspect ratio as the current Xperia 1 flagship smartphone. We are not sure if it will retain the Xperia 1 4K Ultra HD resolution, but the same report suggests the device will come with support for 5G connectivity, though it is not certain the Foldable phone might be its first 5G device as the Xperia AG-1 showcased earlier at the MWC might take that glory.
