Oppo thinks of a foldable smartphone with a pop-up camera

Oppo

A patent registered by Oppo reveals the idea of this manufacturer with regard to foldable smartphones, a sector that has highlighted several difficulties for other companies that have proposed their own solutions.

Just think of the Samsung Galaxy Fold to realize how many problems must be solved before being able to launch a smartphone on the market that does not run the risk of starting a real “media case”.

The new Oppo patent includes a smartphone characterized by a large display which, when folded, is divided into two screens of equal size, one positioned frontally and the other rearward:

In addition, the manufacturer has designed a retractable system for the only photographic compartment in the smartphone (probably with two sensors), which can be used for both normal photos and selfies.

Laterally, the body is rather clean, presenting only two microphones, a 3.5 mm audio input jack, the compartment for the SIM and a volume key.

The Oppo patent confirms that foldable smartphones are a sector in which the various manufacturers have more chances to put their designers’ imagination to the test, something that is less and less the case with “traditional” smartphones.

It is worth to mention that Samsung had to cancel the launch of its foldable smartphone the Galaxy Fold scheduled for April 26 due to some obvious problems with the display of the device that needed to be repaired.

Samsung has worked to resolve the problems that have occurred and reports suggest that the manufacturer has managed to make the required changes, however, the company has yet to confirm when it will release the first foldable smartphone in the world.

A recent report confirmed that the device will not be released in June, forcing Samsung and Best Buy to cancel all pre-orders, but a new report from South Korea commented by DJ Koh, CEO of Samsung mobile, suggests that the company will finally release the Galaxy Fold in July.
