The Essential Phone PH-1 didn’t exactly have a dream debut that Andy Rubin might have hoped for. It launched nearly two years back and after the official unveiling took around three months to make it commercially available. Even after being on shelves, the handset didn’t sell very well and received heavy discounts in the following months. But now, it seems we might actually be close to seeing a successor.
Andy Rubin, Essential’s CEO, might have hinted towards it when he replied to a thread as old as September 2018 from Droid-Life’s Kellen. Rubin said that the company will make an announcement and the audience should hang tight in his reply a couple of days ago. Now, this isn’t the first time he’s made such a cryptic tweet, he did it in the past in April with a similar mysterious message.

Thanks. We'll make an announcement. Hang tight.

Now, rumours about the second-gen Essential Phone have been on and off in the past. A report dated back to May 2018 revealed that there would be no sequel to the Essential Phone. Rubin himself corroborated that report. But a lot of time has passed since then, and now we have this odd tweet from Rubin once again.
Needless to say, we have no clue as to what Essential has in store for us, if there is something at all, but we’re sitting tight.
