Xiaomi branded Meitu phone said to be in the works, specs leaked

Xiaomi Mi 9 Golden Dragon

Soon after the Xiaomi Mi 9T, a new device from Xiaomi is said to be in the making, but this time under a different brand name. The Chinese brand had earlier in 2018 signed a strategic agreement with Meitu that allows it to takeover its hardware business.

That essentially means that future phones will carry the Meitu brand, but Xiaomi will be responsible for the design, R&D, and sales, while Meitu will still be involved in the camera software. Months since the agreement was reached, and it now appears the first Xaiomi backed Meitu phone could be landing soon.

Gizchina News of the week

A Xiaomi smartphone with the model number  Mi CC9e, and  Mi CC9 has surfaced last week on the web, and while we are not sure if that’s is the model number or marketing name, a new report from Weibo says these devices could launch under the Xiaomi and Meitu back partnership. While that remains unconfirmed, co-founder and president of Xiaomi, reportedly visited the Meitu’s AI lab earlier today and has also gone further to open the Xiaomi Meitu account on WeChat, suggesting we might actually be getting the first device under the arrangement soon.

While we have yet to see renders of the alleged Xiaom Meitu phone, reports from the previous week suggest it will get a full HD+ 6.3-inch IPS LCD display with a waterdrop notch. The notch will reportedly house a 32-megapixel, while a 48-megapixel snapper will grace the rear. Last week’s report had claimed that it will be equipped with 48-megapixel  main camera, in addition to an 8-megapixel, and a 13-megapixel camera. Report says the Xiaomi Mi CC9e, and  Mi CC9 will get a 3500mAh battery, and a 4000mAh battery, with 18W fast charging. The Snapdragon 710 or 712 mobile platform, Android 9.0 Pie and a 3D glass are said to be part of the upcoming Xiaomi Meitu phone.
