Konka S1 Mirage is the mystery 3GB, 3D projector phone!

Earlier today we reported that Chinese electronics company Konka are working on a 3GB RAM, 1080, 3D phone, well it hasn’t taken to long for more details of the Konka S1 Mirage to be uncovered.

According to sources the new Konka phone is name the Konka S1 Mirage, and features a 5-inch 1080 3D stereoscopic display, and Texas T1 DLP Pico projector which supports 3D projection.

Gizchina News of the week

As well as offering 3D functionality and a built-in projector, the S1 is going to be a rather powerful Android 4.2 Jelly Bean phone, powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 600 CPU, with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM.

With all that power, the projector and display we hope that Konka will be giving the 2499 Yuan ($405) S1 a suitably large battery!

Have to say – even though the price tag pushes it into the upper range – thats ALOT of bang for your buck!
That being said – the actual value vs price factor is only speculation until a final production item can be bought and posessed. Did they give any indication as to when they hope for it to go on sale?

Come to think of it, given the name – it might turn out to be vaporware. Wouldn’t that be iconic ^^,

    What the fuck, man.
a projector, a 3d screen, a3 gigabytes of ram and who knows what else.

This is a bit ambitious for a chinese company.

It is ambitious by ANY cellphone manufacturer, especially if it comes out in reasonable time and the suggested retail price sticks. But Konka is one of the top 10 most valuable brands in China, with a company group net value of 2437 billion USD ^^
They can afford it if the product flops – but if it is a success – this could mean a major jump for them in the international cellphone market.

I’m convinced. I dont know whether i’d buy it though. I really dont like the idea of an uneven body. Make it 14mm and add extra battery if you have to – just dont make it have a huge bump on the top.

Although, for objectivity’s sake – currently that’s probably and alpha render.

I hear you! Hopefully, the added weight of a uniform body thickness “stuffed with juice”, will not be too much of a marked hindrance – as it would really go towards actualling being able to utilize the device to its fullest, without having to carry around the charger at all times. The pictures in the previous thread is no rendering – but they could just as well be ‘shopped, or another device. And, they only show the front. If this is for real, we’ll probably get a pretty good news feed on it here @ GizChina.

This is one of the main reasons why there is mostly just love in my “Me & my Jiayu G3” relationship. Uniform body, very solid feel, huge battery.

Too dim. The phone is bad in specs and software.

they can make two different backs, one with juice and one without and put a 5000mAher in there.

I like the thought – wonder if the general public is open to it, or if its already getting confusing 🙂
Then again, with these features and the mid-plus price (being a chinese set) – it could become a “techie fan” item. Should that happen, they might just as well go all out. I guess that huge and widespread company has the resources to do proper marked research and figure out the most interested target group – and maybe put the finishing touches on acordingly.

They have probably been working on it for some time already – and Qualcomm didn’t make out their own production samples for the 800 until earlier this year – sampling availability for customers wasn’t expected until Q2 2013, but the 600 in Q1.

If it turns out to have a long development period, they could possibly merge over to the 800 underway. Just speculating though – hopefully we get to see this in final production during july-august 🙂
