Chinese MND refutes Huawei’s affiliation with the military

At the regular press conference of the Ministry of National Defense (MND), the Chinese military responded to reports that the Chinese military researchers and Huawei are affiliated in some projects. Ren Guoqiang, a spokesperson for the Chinese MND, said that Huawei is a self-developed private enterprise with no called military background whatsoever thus cannot be involved in military research. In addition to the Chinese MND spokesperson, Chinese Defense Minister, Wei Fenghe, also said that Huawei is a private enterprise and that Huawei’s bosses should not be considered to be related to the military because they were former military personnel. He said this at the Shangri-La Dialogue held in Singapore.

In addition, Huawei disclosed the content of an email sent by its president, Ren Zhengfei. He charged the company to pull the world forward, create standards by itself, and become the most advanced company in the world. “This year we will recruit 20-30 talented youngsters from all over the world. Next year we want to recruit 200-300 people from all over the world. These talented teenagers are like “muddy”, to drill our organization and activate our team. In the next 3-5 years, I believe that Huawei will be completely new. We must win this war.” Ren Zhengfei said.
