That China’s Huawei is working on an Android alternative is perhaps nothing new. The OS dubbed HongMeng OS (aka Oak OS) is almost becoming a reality. The brand new operating system is already been tested on the upcoming Mate 30 flagship, as reported earlier.
That of course means some privileged individuals are already having a taste of the new OS on Huawei Mate 30. Now, a few reviews are already dropping in from China from these early testers who have revealed a few points that set the homegrown OS from the Android-based EMUI custom user interface that the company currently uses.
First off, it is reported that quite a number of features on the OS are at the moment not usable. Perhaps Huawei decided to lock out those features for or just maybe they are still been fine-tuned.
Early reviews says the OS gets a new boot animation and also gives room for customizations as per the user’s liking. Further, the user can customize the screen with widgets as well as the lock screen with several options at disposal. Also, the UI gets redesigned icons with more animation, faster and smooth transition, new notification panel with changes, and a larger sear bar.

Huawei’s founder and CEO, Ren Zhengfei in a recent interview claimed the Homegrown OS will be faster than Google’s Android OS. He, however, didn’t reveal how much faster it will be, but reports says it could be as much as 60% speedier than the Android OS.
And unlike the Android OS, the Hongmeng OS is built for not only mobiles phones but also for a wide variety of devices including; routers, network switches, tablets, computers and data centers.
