OnePlus 7 Pro components cost just $324 per unit

That the OnePlus 7 Pro is the most expensive handset from OnePlus is a very well known fact by now. It’s evident that from being a flagship killer brand once the company now simply makes killer flagships. But how much does OnePlus get to take home from the sale of one unit? Or rather more accurately put, how much do its components cost? we have the answer.

As per a leaked material cost sheet of the OnePlus 7 Pro, the total expense of one unit of the curved-screen flagship turns out to be $324.21. In comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy S10+ materials cost $420. Of course, the lion share of the pie goes to the curved AMOLED display which is sourced from Samsung and costs OnePlus $80 a pop . This is in line with what was reported earlier for the Galaxy S10+ display with the hole-punch that costs the Korean giant $86.50. The other key component is the processor which costs $70 a piece. The other big expenses are the triple cameras – $27.29, the 6GB LPDDR4X RAM – $26, and the 128GB storage – $20. Understandably, these major components combined make up almost 2/3rd of the entire material cost sheet.

To put it into perspective OnePlus sells its 6GB + 128GB variant for $669 which is like double the material cost. That is still modest compared to the Galaxy S10+ $580 margin per unit on a retail price of $1000. It’s also worth mentioning that this cost sheet doesn’t include a lot of other expenses such as the assembly, and a lot of other phases that the phone goes through before it reaches the end consumer.

The extra cost also goes into paying the software engineers who spend much more time optimizing the entire experience including the much improved camera software. They have been rolling out excellent updates like clock work

True! But for some reason in Canada they jacked up the original price by $100 to $999cdn for the entry level, I was a huge fan of oneplus but after that and then seeing how they brought the price down… by 100.. I dunno bout them anymore… Smh..

They never added an additional fee before except for the 7 pro. Dunno why

They launched at a high price but the price was dropped by 100 a while ago to match the US price. If you had only checked…

I checked, but why did they jack it up in the first place? That’s my question. Any thoughts about that? If you read what I wrote, you would see i already knew about that. Take your time reading.
