Asus ROG Phone 2 real image with Snapdragon 855+ SoC appears online


Yesterday, Qualcomm new top chip, Snapdragon 855+ went live and this is the new performance beast in town. As of now, we already have smartphones which will reportedly use this processor. A few hours after this chip was announced, there were reports that Asus ROG phone 2 will use this chip. Interestingly, this smartphone will arrive in about a week and some features this device are hitting the rumor mill.

Asus ROG Phone 2 Succinct Details

According to the latest real image of this smartphone, Asus ROG phone 2 retains the design of the previous generation. It comes with no notch, waterdrop and without any punch-hole solution. It will also probably use the dual-speaker solution (one on top and another below). In addition, the ROG Gaming Phone 2 also uses a refresh rate screen up to 120Hz, which is the highest refresh rate mobile phone screen to date. Specifically, the ROG gaming phone 2 has 60Hz, 90Hz and 120Hz three-speed refresh rate. As we said earlier, the Asus ROG phone 2 will arrive with an SD855+ SoC which uses a 7nm design process. The previous generation ROG Phone uses the Snapdragon 845 (clocks up to 2.96GHz).

According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 855+ is an upgrade to the flagship platform, Snapdragon 855. Its design will deliver better performance and it supports leading multi-gigabit 5G, gaming, AI and XR experiences. The platform’s performance enhancements bring the gaming experience to a whole new level, especially in 5G scenes. The company believes that the SD855+ will bring the ultimate Snapdragon Elite Gaming experience.

In terms of AI, the Snapdragon 855+ comes with the fourth-generation multi-core Qualcomm artificial intelligence engine AI Engine. This brings a highly responsive gaming experience. It supports more than 7 trillion operations per second (7TOPs) and can implement proprietary programmable AI acceleration. This smartphone will arrive on July 23.
