Chinese phone maker and member of BBK electronics VIVO is one of the few industry players always pursuing innovative strategies in a bid to grabbing market attention. The brand might not be as popular as Huawei and Xiaomi. But it remained at the forefront of trending features like the full-screen display, pop-up front-facing camera, the in-display fingerprint sensor, and now the Dual Wi-Fi feature.
The brand alongside OPPO earlier today announced a new feature – “Dual Wi-Fi Acceleration” that could become part of their future premium devices. OPPO demoed the feature with the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom, while VIVO stepped up the game with two IQOO phones.

The feature as the name suggests essentially allows a single smartphone to connect to two Wi-Fi connections. The aim is to achieve better bandwidth and stable connection in case one fails. In the demo video released by the brand on Weibo, the Reno phone can be seen connecting to a primary 2.4 GHz and a secondary 5 GHz network. The result is an impressive 322% download speed, while page loading speed gets up to 44.5% in relation to regular Wi-Fi connectivity.
Unlike that of OPPO, the dual Wi-Fi feature determines which of the duo is more stable and faster, and then uses the same for faster app download and lower latency.
While are not sure if the feature will roll out to the IQOO and Reno phones via OTA updates. However, there are indications it could become part of future OPPO, Reno and by extension Oneplus smartphones.
hmm dual wifi…so does that mean I have to ask my neighbour’s wifi password so I can make use of this feature?! 😛
