Mi Health is Xiaomi’s newest health and fitness app

Mi Health

Many companies usually produce their own counterparts of apps offered by Google in the Play Store. This is something crucial in China, where Google services are blocked. To move around this, Chinese companies have their own apps to expand the usage and never make users feel like they are lacking something in comparison to western users. Xiaomi is not an exception, offering its own set of Mi-applications inside MIUI. Today, the company is proud enough to unveil its own health and fitness app called Mi Health.

Do not confuse this new app with the Mi Fit app which is currently available in older MIUI releases. That’s a whole different app that arrives with the latest MIUI China Developer 9.7.23 beta build. The folks at XDA-Developers successfully extracted the APK from the Chinese build. Interesting enough, any device running MIUI can install this app as a System App. Despite this, Mi Health app can’t be simply installed in devices running vanilla Android. At least, not without root.

Mi Health doesn’t feel like a revolutionary health monitor app. It is simple and offers most of the standard features such as step counter, sleep time and duration tracking. Other advanced features also include the capability of monitoring menstruation cycles allowing you to set a starting date in the calendar. Furthermore, you can set exercise goals and the app will give you Health Scores based on the activity. The app is capable of contextually adapting to higher goals.

This app seems to be Xiaomi’s newest official app for health tracking, so it’s just a matter of time to see it coming for more devices in the future. Furthermore, the company might upload it to PlayStore in the near future.
