OnePlus finally broke its long silence regarding its highly-anticipated OnePlus TVÂ last week. And now, a new teaser has appeared revealing something more interesting about the upcoming product. In recent days, the company has also announced that the OnePlus TV will be exclusive to India.
A new official tweet on OnePlus India’s handle has revealed that the OnePlus TV will have a 55-inch QLED panel. Now, this is somewhat of a revelation as earlier these Tvs were thought to either feature OLED or LCD panels.
Gizchina News of the week
Now, to make it clear, QLED, or as Samsung likes to call them âQuantum Dot LED,â panels are similar to LCD displays in the sense that they use a backlight. There are quantum dots on top of an LED panel in these displays that drastically improve the brightness and colour levels of QLED displays. The tech was first developed  used by Sony in 2013 and later branded by Samsung as QLED in 2017 and the South Korean giant is leasing the tech to other brands. OnePlus already uses Samsung’s curved AMOLED displays on its smartphones, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that it will be using QLED displays.
Furthermore, it has teased just one 55-inch version, that’s not to say that there won’t be other sizes and display types such as OLED. We’ve previously seen a number of other variants pass Bluetooth SIG verification – 43-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch models.
The OnePlus TV will be exclusive to Amazon.in and the e-commerce portal has already made a landing page for prospective customers.
Note: Article updated to reflect that Sony was the first to use QLED displays and Samsung later rebranded them
