A few days ago a report emerged informing the release date of Android 10. The information came from a couple of chats with Google support representants. Today, a slip-up by Canadian carrier Rogers has seemingly confirmed that the next Android version will ship on September 3.
The official post was already removed by Rogers when they realized the mistake of publishing this information ahead of Google’s official announcement. Thankfully (not for Rogers), there are some captures. We can see public Rogers’ OS upgrade schedule included the lines you can see screenshotted below.
Gizchina News of the week
Interesting enough, the carrier didn’t update the name of the next version of the green robot OS. It was formerly known as Android Q, but since Google’s has dropped the dessert-based names, we know that it will be called just Android 10. The carrier removed all references to the Pixel’s line from its schedule. However, we already know if there’s any phone getting Android 10 on September 3, the entire Pixel Line will be covered. According to rumors, the OnePlus 7 Pro is another device that can get the latest version straight after Google’s rollout.
The release date seems accurate, given how last year the company released Android 9 Pie on the same day we would normally expect monthly security patches. That day in September of 2019 is the 3rd since the 2nd is Labor Day in the US. Google outs updates on the first Monday of every month, unless that is a holiday in the US. In this case, the release happens in the day after.
Thankfully, we won’t need to wait much longer to see the truth.
This happens every year. Does anyone really believe it’s a mistake?
