Samsung has just announced a new camera Samsung aimed at the mobile segment – The ISOCELL Slim GH1. The sensor features 43.7MP (7,968×5,480) resolution and the industry-first 0.7μm-sized pixels. Furthermore, it effectively outputs 10.9MP images and is built in mind for slim full display devices. Therefore, the company will be able to expand the display size of future smartphones without sacrificing the camera’s sensor quality.
The compact sensor introduces a clever workaround in low light scenarios by merging four pixels together with a light sensitivity of 1.4μm pixels. The ISOCELL Slim GH1 also features pixel isolation which minimizes optical loss while keeping vivid and sharp colors.

Moreover, the new sensor offers support for EIS and Super PD phase-detection for fast autofocus and real-time HDR. Video recording enthusiasts will be glad to know that the sensor is capable of recording 4K videos at 60fps. The high-quality videos are recorder without cropping or scaling down the image resolution.
According to the South Korean firm, the mass production for this specific sensor should start by the end of this year. We believe that the Slim GH1 will be present in many of Samsung next year’s smartphones. Especially those under the upcoming the next year’s Galaxy A and M-series.
